The July 6 meetings of the Board of Directors and the Board Finance Committee have been canceled and the next regular meeting for both groups will be held on August 3. In lieu of its regular meeting schedule, the Board Human Rights Committee will meet on July 10 from 4:00-5:30pm. All meetings will be held at the Alliance Home Office, 4600 Emperor Boulevard, Durham.

The Alliance Board

Alliance is governed by a Board of Directors responsible for comprehensive planning, budgeting, implementing and monitoring of community-based mental health, developmental disability and substance abuse services to meet the needs of individuals in the Alliance region.

The Alliance Board consists of community stakeholders from Durham, Wake and Cumberland counties appointed by their respective County Commissioners, as well as representation from Johnston County. Service providers do not serve as members of the Board.

All Board and Board Committee meetings are held at the Alliance corporate office unless otherwise noted on the Alliance calendar of events and are open to the public.

Board Vacancies

There are currently four open positions on the Alliance Board of Directors, two for Wake County residents and one each for a Johnston and a Cumberland County resident.

Candidates for Board membership must be residents of the county they would be representing and at least 18 years of age. Employees or family member of employees or volunteers of provider agencies or vendors contracted with Alliance, or persons with a financial interest or ownership in any such agency or vendor, are not eligible to serve. Final decisions on appointments to the Alliance Board are made by the respective Boards of County Commissioners.

The Alliance Board meets monthly at the Alliance Home Office in Durham except quarterly at one of the Community Offices. Board members have the opportunity to serve on one or more of Alliance’s Board Committees. Board duties include reviewing agenda documents and attending Board/Board Committee meetings, which may involve six to ten hours each month. Board members are eligible for a nominal stipend for each regular meeting attended.
